Editor's Note

Welcome to the second issue of QC magazine. We provide you with more educational aspects in this field. The topic of training for design and printing is very important for people, but less attention is paid to it in the field of Preflight. You can print a healthy file by carefully examining a file and the color and image corrections. These fixes are made in graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, but specialized software such as Adobe Acrobat DC Pro or ESKO Deskpack is used. We believe that 80% of a production process can be done and modified on Prepress section. You are not creative at the time of printing, and the machines only have the task of transferring the ink and certain settings. But in Prepress you can deal with colors and modify them in several ways, use your creativity to set the final file and get a different result than ever. Trust Prepress and use it more.

1- Why is preflight important for the Q.C.?

We always want the best print. We have accurate colors and the amount of Saturation is in the most accurate state, but we want to achieve all these things at the time of printing! The important point is that most of the things mentioned about print quality are defined in the Prepress stage. Here you will also come across the word Preflight, which is one of the most important parts of Prepress, which means “file control checklist”. The term may have entered the printing system from the aviation industry. Once the flight attendants had a checklist to check the proper functioning of the aircraft and checked it before the flight started, and finally, the Preflight checklist was approved and the flight was done. And we want to make the colors fly in print!

2- Three key colors Setting at design time

You can use many colors when designing and printing. But three colors are much more important than other colors because they have more uses. Green is widely used in organic food and natural products, blue in beverages and pharmaceuticals, and finally brown in the chocolate and coffee industries. In the case of other colors, you may be able to adjust the color with different techniques, but in these three cases, your monitor will definitely make a mistake, and when printing, the colors will have a sharp drop in quality. The point is about the color channels that exist in these three colors, but you do not pay attention to them.

3- Acrobat and its utilization in preflight checklist

Among softwares related to preflight, both professional soft wares such as Esko deskpack and more accessible one such as Adobe Acrobat DC Pro can be used. With Acrobat, you can examine your file either gradually or once by set of commands definition. Acrobat can help you in Offset and Flexo checklist preparation. In order to check and correct, after file checking, software reports errors to the designer or employer. Acrobat is one the most popular Adobe soft wares and it is user-friendly for Graphic designer and Prepress managers.

4- Turning the intangible into matter

Printing is akin to a living being, an organism defined by the 5 senses, since sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste are all present. Every living organism has needs that must be served and in this case we are dealing with a very demanding being, one that is not comfortable with half measures and does not survive on low value food. The requirement for a Prepress department grew as printing started to require more and more; better quality and speed, larger variety and vastly more applications. Prepress was like a feeder; it’s goal? Rapid production of large quantities of “food” of the highest quality composed only of the finest, most digestible ingredients. Thus, rules had to be created to ensure proper nutrition, good health and the continued development of this organism. Let us take a look at some of these rules.
