Anilox Roller: The Critical Importance of Cell Volume in Flexo

Why is the Cell Volume (BCM/in²) of an Anilox Roller more critical to print density than its Line Screen (LPI)?

The Cell Volume (measured in BCM/in²) is fundamentally more critical to final print density than the Line Screen (LPI) because it directly dictates the actual thickness of the wet ink film transferred. Line Screen only defines the number of cells per inch, affecting detail resolution, whereas the Cell Volume represents the fixed, measurable quantity of ink available for transfer to the plate.

When purchasing a new roller, consultants must insist on receiving a Certification of Measurement for the BCM/in² to ensure consistency. Maintaining the accuracy of this volume is key to achieving Process Stability. Furthermore, utilizing an Anilox Life Management Program with periodic volume measurements helps prevent unexpected color density drops caused by cell wear or plugging, which severely impacts Color Hierarchy consistency.
