Anilox volume impact on print quality
Anilox roller volume is the primary factor in controlling color density and the accurate reproduction of halftones within flexographic printing processes. If the Cell Volume is selected beyond the permissible limit, the amount of ink transferred to the plate increases, causing the filling of negative spaces and ink bridging. This condition ultimately leads to a severe reduction in image clarity, the loss of fine details, and a dirty print appearance that contradicts the quality standards of reputable global brands and clients.
On the other hand, physical wear caused by the doctor blade or cell clogging significantly reduces the transfer capacity over time. To maintain process stability, monitoring cell geometry, including Cell Depth and opening, is essential to prevent color deviations. Operators must not compensate for lost volume by increasing roller pressure, as this exacerbates bridging and permanently damages printing plates. Proper volume management is the only way to achieve consistent quality across high-volume production runs and complex designs.
