While kerf focuses on the width of the penetrating slot for rule insertion, the term Routing Depth refers to the tool's penetration depth into the board layers without passing through completely. This distinction is particularly important when mounting embossing dies or auxiliary components onto the die board. Improper depth management can weaken the wooden structure of the die, causing it to collapse or crack under press pressure.
