Embossing and Debossing both rely on mechanical pressure using a die and counter-die, but they produce opposite results. Embossing pushes the substrate fibers up and out from the back side, creating a raised or three-dimensional effect on the face of the material. This process is commonly chosen to give a premium, tactile quality to logos and text.

Conversely, Debossing pushes the design down into the material from the face side, creating an indented or sunken effect. While both techniques enhance the haptic experience, Embossing is generally more visually striking as the raised element often catches the light more dynamically. The choice between them depends entirely on the desired visual identity and whether the brand wants the design to project outwards or recede inwards.
