The G7 standard, developed by IDEAlliance (International Digital Enterprise Alliance), is a calibration and process control method whose main goal is to match the Visual Appearance of different print outputs, regardless of the printing method or device. Instead of the traditional focus on ink density, G7 centers on Gray Balance in mid-tones and the output's neutral density curves. By adhering to G7, a printer guarantees that its output is close to ideal neutral specifications, which facilitates fast and reliable matching across offset, digital, and proofing outputs.
