Preventive solutions for Set-off and Anti-Set-off Powder

What are the preventive solutions for Set-off, and how does Anti-Set-off Powder work?

Preventive solutions for Set-off include both Prepress and press-side measures. The most effective long-term solution is Prepress optimization, specifically by using GCR to reduce TIC to a safe level, thus decreasing the amount of ink that needs to dry. This should be a standard setting defined in the ICC Profile.

On the press, if Set-off is unavoidable due to design requirements, the most common immediate solution is Anti-Set-off Powder. This powder is a fine, non-pigmented substance sprayed over the wet sheet as it exits the press. It creates a tiny physical space between the stacked sheets in the delivery pile, preventing the printed surface of one sheet from making direct contact with the back of the next, thereby allowing air circulation and reducing the likelihood of ink transfer.
