Reducing TVI through bridging control
Controlling ink bridging is the most effective way to manage TVI because it prevents the physical merging of dots that leads to unintended darkness in the print. When bridging is eliminated, each halftone dot maintains its engineered shape and size, ensuring that the light reflects correctly from the substrate between the dots. This preservation of "white space" or negative areas is what creates high-definition resolution and sharp contrast in complex packaging graphics.
To achieve this, specialists must ensure that the Cell Volume is precisely matched to the plate’s requirements and that the Cell Depth does not allow for excessive ink buildup. By implementing a proactive anilox management program and using 3D scanning to monitor wear, companies can maintain the "golden ratio" between the roller and the plate. This level of control results in a stable ink transfer curve, reduced waste, and a final product that matches the customer's color specifications with high precision.
