The purpose of setting screen angles in four-color printing

How is Screen Angle adjusted to create the Rosette pattern and prevent Moire errors?

Screen Angle is adjusted for each of the CMYK colors so that they do not interfere with one another but instead create the desired Rosette pattern (flower-like). This pattern creates the visual illusion of smooth, uniform combined colors for the human eye. Adjusting the angles is vital because if they are set incorrectly, the undesirable Moire pattern is created instead of the Rosette, severely reducing the visual quality and detail of the image.

In standard Offset printing, angles are typically set to 45, 75, 0, and 15 degrees (for the key, cyan, yellow, and magenta colors, respectively) to ensure maximum visual separation and minimum interference. Yellow is typically placed at 0 degrees due to its low visible contrast. The prepress team must ensure these angles are applied with complete accuracy in the RIP and CTP device to guarantee final quality.
