The unsung hero

This post is about a “printing supervisor”. Many people misunderstand what a print supervisor actually does. They aren't just responsible for buying paper or adjusting colors during the printing process.

a Printing Supervisor is a member of the QC team who works independently or collaboratively with other team members. Their responsibilities include providing initial consultations to clients on paper selection, evaluating production volumes, choosing appropriate colors, and overseeing any other aspects that contribute to a successful printing process.

A printing supervisor should know about prepress file checks, creating production schedules, identifying potential file issues, and understanding printing standards.

The supervision process starts before printing, with file review and corrections. The actual printing process is only 20% of the total work. The rest is done before the press starts.

"Print supervision isn't a single task; it's a process that involves many steps to ensure accurate production."
